We proudly offer this superb, very late production 1992 Ferrari F40 in Rosso Corsa over Red Nomex seats with just 13,557 kms/8,419 miles.
The Ferrari F40 was the very last production vehicle personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. Unveiled to select journalists in Maranello on July 21, 1987, per its name, the F40 celebrated 40 years since 1947 of Ferrari auto production. From 1987 to 1992, a total of 1,311 examples were delivered. The F40 is powered by a 2.9L Twin Turbo V8 engine rated in European trim at 478 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque through a rear-wheel-drive 5-speed manual transaxle. Its iconic, aggressive body was formed from composite materials reinforced with carbon fiber and Kevlar over a steel-tube space-frame chassis. Claimed top speed was 201 mph and 0-60 times results came in around 4.2 seconds. Beyond just the numbers, Car and Driver went on to describe the car as a "mix of sheer terror and raw excitement."
The Ferrari factory completed assembly on our European Spec 1992 Ferrari F40 #94528 in the final weeks of F40 production on July 8, 1992 and was sold new on July 20, 1992 by Crepaldi Auto SpA. to its original owner in Mantova, Italy. Only two other F40s are known to have been completed and delivered after this particular example. The F40 remained in the original owner’s possession until being sold to its second owner in Arese (Milan), Italy in 1995. This second owner kept the car (and was seen participating with it in a Ferrari even in Mugello) until selling the car to a Japanese exotic car dealer in Gifu City, Japan in June of 1997 with just 1,900 total kilometers. Japanese registration records reportedly provide a complete listing of all subsequent owners who were all either a dealer, a private museum, or prominent Ferrari collector. Locations included Gifu City, Fukuoka City, Nagoya, Tokyo, and finally Kashiwa City. Mileage also follows suit throughout its time in Japan beginning with 1,900 kms in May 1997 and followed by 12,500 kms in June 2010, 13,200 kms in August 2012, and 13,535 kms in October 2017.
This European F40 was just imported to the U.S. within this past year. Per its age, no modifications were required meaning it retains its seat harnesses instead of the seatbelt “mice” and catless exhaust. Being of very late production, it also benefitted from a variety of improvements and updates incorporated by Ferrari throughout the five year production run. It is a completely accident free and up-to-date serviced vehicle. Its original engine and gearbox remain. The exhaust has been updated with a Tubi exhaust system and the original is included. Also included are the tools and owners manuals as seen in the photos.
Very recent servicing by Ferrari of Newport Beach (completed in January 2018 at 13,556 kms) brings this F40 completely up to date including a complete inspection, major service with timing belts, fluids, new tires installed, replaced fuel bladders and fuel pumps, replaced springs and shocks, performed alignment, and performed suspension campaign #43. The seats have been recovered in the correct seat material to bring them to as-new condition. The mouse-hair material, headliner, and carbon fiber interior surfaces are all excellent. The Lexan rear engine cover is clear. Some spot paintwork has been performed due to minor rock pecks. This car runs and drives unbelievably well. It certainly will not disappoint its next owner!
